Thomas Pynchon’s Inherent Vice is a book filled with many great characters, and it appears Paul Thomas Anderson is intending to cast fun, famous people as all of them. Joining a cast that already includes Joaquin Phoenix, Benicio Del Toro, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Josh Brolin, Martin Short, Jena Malone, and Maya Rudolph (and apparently, Rudolph and Anderson’s unborn child) is whimsical harpist Joanna Newsom, who IndieWire reports was seen on set. Maybe Newsom met PTA at a conference for romantic partners of former SNL castmembers.
