NBC Buys Comedies from Harris Wittels and Dan Mazer

NBC is developing two new comedies for next season from well-known comedy writers. The first is an untitled show from Harris Wittels, a writer on Parks and Recreation and Eastbound & Down who’s a regular on the podcast Comedy Bang Bang. The comedy follows a slacker who lives with his parents and is always disagreeing with them on how to raise his brother, a multimillionaire teen entrepreneur. Wittels is writing the script solo, while his fellow Parks and Rec writer/producer Alexandra Rushfield, is supervising.

NBC’s other recent comedy buy is a show created by Dan Mazer, Sacha Baron Cohen’s longtime writing partner who co-scripted Borat and Brüno with him. His show is a multi-camera sitcom that’s described as an adult relationship comedy. Mazer recently wrote and directed his first movie, I Give It a Year, which was produced in the UK and recently came out in the States.
