Disney Didn’t Share Any Star Wars News at Its D23 Expo

Alan Horn arrives at the 22nd Annual Environmental Media Awards on Saturday Sept. 29, 2012, at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, Calif.

While Disney chairman Alan Horn touted the studio’s upcoming features at their D23 Expo in Anaheim, attendees couldn’t help but notice that Star Wars: Episode VII updates were missing from the presentation. The Hollywood Reporter pointed out, “Much of the footage shown during the first half of the presentation was the same content that had appeared at Comic-Con” and the audience was “audibly disappointed” when it became clear that Horn wasn’t going to share any fresh Star Wars information. The crowd took to Twitter to express their disappointment in not hearing any new developments (see their complaints here , here, and here), though they were sort of warned: During a Friday Disney animation panel, Bob Iger said, “We’re going to be somewhat speechless at this expo because we aren’t ready to share too many details just yet.” It seems that denial is almost as strong as the Force.
