Last year, Buzzfeed sports writer Jack Moore and comedian Josh Gondelman created a funny Twitter account called “Modern Seinfeld” (@SeinfeldToday), from which they started tweeting their own technology-heavy 21st century Seinfeld episode ideas. The account racked up over half a million followers since its December debut, and now, THR reports that it’s landed co-creator Jack Moore a real sitcom job. Moore has been staffed as a writer on Fox’s upcoming midseason sitcom Us & Them, a US adaptation of the UK’s Gavin & Stacey. Moore says the account “uniquely positioned” him, adding, “I was basically pitching storylines, which is a huge part of being on a writing staff. Here’s 400 [ideas] that illustrated a skill set.” While plenty of funny people have jumped from Twitter to professional comedy writing jobs, this is a rare example of someone doing it from a premise-based account instead of from a personal Twitter page.
