Perhaps in an attempt to make his Batman even more “tired and weary,” Ben Affleck has added yet another commitment to an already full schedule. Variety reports that he has a pilot order from Fox to direct The Middle Man, a crime drama from a script by Glenn Gordon Caron (of Medium and Moonlighting) about “the unique relationship between FBI agent Rudy MacAteer, who’s charged with taking down the Italian-American mafia, and his confidential informant, Irish-American gangster Mickey Flood” in the sixties. Appropriately for Affleck, the show is being described as a “timeless Boston crime drama.” The Hollywood Reporter says the pilot will begin production in early 2014 — just after Affleck wraps Gone Girl and before he puts on the black cape.
