“I’ve missed you so much,” Jon Stewart jokingly whispered directly at the camera upon his return to The Daily Show desk, and despite our championing of his fill-in, John Oliver, it was good to see Stewart back where he belongs. But before he could get down to business (or, “Uncle Jonny Stew’s Good time Syria Jamboree”), Oliver and correspondent Jessica Williams had to help Stewart return to his proper persona (“The Middle East has changed him”) by defibrillating him with two Big Macs and watching as he cycled through other personae, including Duck Dynasty, Moses, Freddie Mercury, a Smurf(?), Hitler, and, of course, VMAs Miley Cyrus.
