Many federal employees are feeling pretty unappreciated these days, what with Congress goofing around with their livelihoods. Enter AMC movie theaters with an unexpected source of comfort: The theater chain is offering federal workers a free, small popcorn, whether they buy a movie ticket or not. “The offer is good until common sense is restored in Washington, D.C., or, more likely, until the shutdown ends or we run out of free popcorn.” For the furloughed on a serious budget, a theater popcorn run followed by a DVD might just be a workable plan.
