Listen, we don’t take any pleasure in the fact that sometimes, here at Vulture, we’re required to be dream-killers … however, we’re afraid that we must debunk a delightful rumor that just popped up on Cinemablend: According to the site, The Heat director Paul Feig is in development on a gay romantic comedy that would star Channing Tatum as the love interest to nerdy Saturday Night Live newbie John Milhiser, who can’t figure out how he landed such a too-good-to-be-true hunk. But before you immediately close this post and head to Fandango (too late?), we should let you know what we’re hearing: Tatum isn’t actually attached, hasn’t even met for the project, and, in fact, was merely mentioned as a pie-in-the-sky casting idea during a dinner party meant to promote The Heat. You’re sad, we know! So are we! But if you keep wishing, maybe someday, dreams could come true? (And consider this a consolation prize.)
