12 Years a Slave director Steve McQueen is developing his first TV project, a drama for HBO. According to Deadline, McQueen co-wrote a script with Matthew Michael Carnahan (World War Z) that follows “a young African-American man’s experience entering New York high society, with a past that may not be what it seems … ’Six Degrees of Separation meets Shame.’” (Quite the tagline.) Russell Simmons will serve as an executive producer, Oscar winners Iain Canning and Emile Sherman will produce, and casting is already under way. Intriguing!
