There is a very masculine hobby at the heart of FXX’s hit sitcom The League: fantasy football. You don’t have to be a man to manage a fantasy team, but the players you’re drafting are as male as male can be. Football isn’t Julie Klausner’s cup of tea, so when she got together with some of the show’s stars — Katie Aselton, Mark Duplass, Steve Rannazzisi, and Paul Scheer — she put a twist on their show’s concept: Instead of picking dudes to play on fantasy teams, she made them draft fantasy TV-show casts from a long list of television’s greatest female characters.
