Is it us or does Roland Emmerich sound like he’s creeping ever closer to madness every time someone brings up Independence Day 2? The director revealed to Indiewire that there are currently “two versions” of the ID2 script in play, one of which does not include Will Smith’s character at all. Emmerich maintained that things are “looking good” for the Smith-filled version, though. Then he “just laughed.” Hopefully Roland doesn’t stress too much about it. As long as he figures out a logical way to resurrect Harvey Fierstein’s character, we’ll all be satisfied.
