Cable channel FXX announced today that they’ve bought the rights to Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy series Da Ali G Show, and will start airing the show under the new title Ali G: Rezurection in February 2014, with each episode featuring a new original intro from Baron Cohen (presumably in character as Ali G). This includes all 18 episodes of the show: the 6 that were made for Channel 4 in the UK in 2000 and the 12 that Baron Cohen and company produced for HBO from 2003 to 2004. The UK episodes have never aired on American TV. Baron Cohen last publicly played Ali G while accepting a British Comedy Award last year.
In addition to buying Ali G: Rezurection, FXX has signed a first-look deal with Sacha Baron Cohen’s production company, Four By Two, to produce original TV content.
