After five years and over 600 videos, CollegeHumor’s smash hit web series Jake and Amir is finally coming to television. According to Deadline, TBS has put the show into development with Ed Helms as executive producer and Cougar Town’s Mike Lisbe and Nate Reger as co-writers, and CollegeHumor’s own Ricky Van Veen and Sam Reich will also serve as executive producers. The TBS show will follow “an odd-couple friendship between best friends and co-workers Jake (Hurwitz), the sensible ‘regular guy,’ and Amir (Blumenfeld), the obsessive oddball. Together they must navigate the cubicles of their workplace, stand up to the corporate man and try to function with their dysfunctional co-workers, all while maintaining their shenanigans.” The web series has amassed over half a billion views since it began in 2007, so thankfully for Hurwitz and Blumenfeld, they already have an enormous and loyal following for this new venture.
