Simon Pegg to Play the Lead in a Movie that Features Four Monty Python Members

Simon Pegg is set to work with the Monty Python guys for the first time. Screen Daily reports that he’s been cast as the lead in Absolutely Anything, a sci-fi comedy directed by Python member Terry Jones. Pegg will play a school teacher who finds out he has magic powers given to him by aliens, with Python members John Cleese, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam, and Terry Jones voicing said aliens. “As someone whose love of comedy was hugely informed by Monty Python, the chance to work with Terry was a gift,” said Pegg. “Meeting your heroes is one thing - working with them is something else.” Eric Idle is the only living Python not in the movie, despite the rest of the gang’s attempts to get him to sign on. Idle has, however, will be participating in Monty Python’s string of live show reunions scheduled for next year.
