When we made our list of five albums, movies, books, and TV shows we were most excited for this winter, Beck’s first studio album since 2008 most definitely made it on. Entitled Morning Phase, it’s being called a “companion piece of sorts” to Beck’s 2002 melancholy, chill classic Sea Change. And now we have the first single, “Blue Moon,” and it does not disappoint. Though undeniably mellow, the song is instrumentally a bit brighter than you’d expect from the aforementioned comparison. Still, if you were worried about it being optimistic, don’t be – the song starts with the lyric “I’m so tired of being low.”
