Elton John and David Furnish, his partner of 20 years, will soon be among the many same-sex couples to say “I do” in England. Furnish told Attitude Magazine that, “as a high-profile couple,” getting married is their “duty…to make sure that everyone knows that this is something that many gay men living in this country never dreamed would happen.” Furnish added, “There is a massive difference between calling someone your ‘partner’ and calling them your ‘husband.’” It’s all very nice, but what about those other English blokes who promised to get married?
