After a run of playing mostly bad guys and/or creeps, how does Michael Fassbender transition into comedy? In a giant papier-mâché head, apparently. Fassbender plays the titular Frank, a brilliantly weird art rocker that never takes off the aforementioned head. Domhnall Gleeson plays a new band member who attempts to help expose Frank to a wider audience and Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Frank’s protective, Theremin-playing sidekick. It’s set for a U.K. release on May 9, with a U.S. release coming later. Until then, imagine Fassbender wearing this head in all of his past roles and feel really uncomfortable about it.
