The History Channel has renewed Vikings for a ten-episode third season, the network announced today. The show is almost halfway through its second season right now and is averaging a not-too-shabby 3.4 million viewers per episode. Vikings is of course reminiscent of Game of Thrones and other sword-heavy period dramas — lots of clan-based violence and bloodshed, plus plenty of old-fashioned weaponry — but it’s also got something in common with Scandal and The Americans: lots and lots of wigs. Oh man, does Vikings ever love its wigs.
