Lena Dunham Tells ‘Glamour’ Her Acting Days May Be Over

Girls star Lena Dunham is on the cover of Glamour’s April issue, and in her interview with the fashion magazine she reportedly alluded to toning down her acting career to focus more on working behind the camera. “I don’t know if I’m going to want to act anymore,” she said in the interview. “I’m always relieved on the days I don’t have to. I’d rather give parts to other women than be the woman having the parts.” A fourth season of Girls is already locked in to air in 2015, so Dunham’s intended transition won’t happen right away. Either way it’s surprising considering all the success she’s raked in for Girls – both as an actor and director – and how enthusiastic of an SNL host she was last weekend. The next big role for Dunham will most likely be bestselling author, as her essay collection Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She’s “Learned” is set for release this September.
