Madonna will straddle the director’s chair once again with Ade, a sweeping romance based on the semi-autobiographical novel Ade: A Love Story by Rebecca Walker, daughter of Alice Walker, which follows the complicated romance between a young biracial American woman and a Muslim man she meets in Kenya. Ade will be both Madonna’s follow-up to 2011’s W.E. and her second gig directing a romance, and will undoubtedly serve as a showcase for her trademark emotional subtlety and racial sensitivity.
