Key and Peele Are Producing a ‘Police Academy’ Reboot

Only a few days after winning a Peabody Award, comedy duo Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele have signed on to produce the Police Academy reboot, THR reports. The last update on the reboot came when first-time director Scott Zabielski (Tosh.0) signed on to direct in 2012, but he has since parted ways with the project. According to the latest update, Key and Peele have now joined original Police Academy producer Paul Maslansky for the reboot, though it hasn’t been announced yet whether they will be starring in it as well. Here’s what Maslansky told THR of the reboot back in 2010:

“It’s going to be very worthwhile to the people who remember it and to those who saw it on TV. It’s going to be a new class. We hope to discover new talent and season it with great comedians. It’ll be anything but another movie with a numeral next to it. And we’ll most probably retain the wonderful musical theme.”
