Pete Townshend Really Relates to The Americans

It might seem strange that Pete Townshend would write a song specifically for The Americans but, indeed, he did: “It Must Be Done” will play on Sunday’s Wednesday’s episode — titled “Yousaf” — during a scene filled with “sex and murder,” Rolling Stone reports. It turns out that aside from just liking the Cold War spying, there are serious themes in FX’s drama to which Townshend directly relates. “Here’s this couple whose whole life is about duty, duty without honor, duty without explanation. There are no accolades. They’re not living a lie but doing things they find hard to do. Everybody has a part of their life that’s difficult to explain. For me it’s, ‘Why the fuck am I in the Who?’” he told Billboard. Well, alright then.
