Last night was the premiere of John Oliver’s new HBO show, Last Week Tonight, and it was pretty close to what we expected: lovely and kind of like The Daily Show. There weren’t commercial breaks and the pretaped interview was a little bit more hard-hitting, but overall it wasn’t so far from what Oliver did last summer. HBO put the whole episode online, so watch him take on racists, Oregon, popes, Obama vs. robots, and the lack of coverage of the Indian election. Also, watch him say “advert” instead of advertisement.
