Marvel Looks to Adam McKay and Other Comedy Directors to Replace Edgar Wright on ‘Ant-Man’

In the wake of director Edgar Wright’s departure from Marvel’s Ant-Man movie, THR reports that the studio is now considering a new set of directors that includes a few known for helming comedy hits. Sources report that Rawson Thurber (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, We’re the Millers), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), and Paul Rudd’s Anchorman director Adam McKay are all on the shortlist to replace Wright, though “no decision has been made yet.” Rumored to also be up for consideration is Warm Bodies writer/director Jonathan Levine, but one of THR’s sources denied he had been approached for the project. In any case, the news that Marvel is in talks with comedy directors sheds a tiny bit of hope that Ant-Man might still be a funny movie worth seeing.
