After Maleficent’s big weekend, Disney is gearing up for yet another live-action remake of one of their classic animated films. Along with the Jungle Book and Cinderella remakes that it already has in the works, Variety reports that Bill Condon (Dreamgirls, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) has been tapped to direct a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast. Evan Spiliotopoulos, who has written a number of straight-to-video Disney features, will write the script. It’s still early days and there’s no word on who might play Belle, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for you, Anna Kendrick.
