Deadline reports that Jared Leto is in talks to replace Will Smith in the sci-fi thriller Brilliance, which would be his first major role since winning an Oscar for Dallas Buyers Club. The film is based on Marcus Sakey’s novel about a world in which a small fraction of the population are blessed with exceptional abilities and are known as brilliants. Noomi Rapace has signed on to play the female lead, while Leto would play the male lead, a brilliant federal agent tasked with hunting down a deadly terrorist. So basically, instead of Will Smith playing exactly to type, we might have Jared Leto playing radically against type? Consider us intrigued!
