Good news for fans of giant robots, giant monsters, or both: Guillermo del Toro has confirmed that he will be back to direct Pacific Rim 2, which Universal has slated for April 7, 2017. Del Toro made the announcement via Legendary’s YouTube channel, noting that in addition to the sequel they would also be making a new animated series based on the franchise as well as some fresh comic-book offerings. As he puts it, “We are happy to be bringing you more Jaegers, more Kaijus, kicking each other’s butts.”
