See Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves Perform ‘Follow Your Arrow’

On Friday night, CMT’s 50th episode of Crossroads provided a preview of what Katy Perry fans will get when Kacey Musgraves opens select shows of the former’s Prismatic tour in August. While the two might be “Hollywood meets Nashville,” there’s a sisterly sweetness between them as they tease each other in between songs. (“One time Katy told me I was like Dolly Parton, but without the tits,” said Kacey).

While their set list ran through Katy Perry’s many hits including “Firework,” “Roar,” and “Teenage Dream,” they did some more low-key covers of Parton’s “Here You Come Again” and Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” They also performed Kacey’s “Follow Your Arrow” — a song that she had initially offered to Perry. When Katy was producing the songs for her latest album, Prism, she asked Kacey to see if she could contribute any material. Kacey played a part of the song for Katy and told her, “Maybe we should do this.” Katy told her, “No, you’ve got to keep that one for yourself. This is going to be really good for you.” At least Katy gets to do backup vocals.
