We already know a fair bit about True Detective season two. Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will star, Justin Lin will direct the first few episodes, and it’ll take place in Southern California, where, according to HBO, “Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.” Vague but not unpromising.
So with those pieces of the impending existential puzzle in place, and assuming that Nic Pizzolatto is still into moody, philosophical digressions and a general sense of dread, here’s what a return trip to Carcosa might look like. Or at least the desert-y, Vince Vaughn–and–Colin Farrell–inhabited version.
