Here are the eerie title credits for Showtime’s adultery drama The Affair, starring Ruth Wilson and Dominic West and featuring a brand-new song from Fiona Apple called “Container.” It goes like this: “My voice, it made an avalanche and buried a man I never knew, and when he died his widowed bride met his daddy, and they made you. I have only one thing to do and that’s to be the wave that I am and then sink back into the ocean,” and it’s accompanied by flickering images of crashing waves, pages turning, fluttering eyelashes, sand, sex bodies, and a child running across a beach. When we saw the trailer we guessed somebody was probably going to get murdered, but after seeing this, our money’s on drowning? Those waves don’t look so friendly.
