It’s Always Sunny star Rob McElhenney is set to make his feature directorial debut. Deadline reports that McElhenney will produce, direct, and write a family action comedy called Figment for Legendary Pictures, who reportedly closed a “potential seven-figure commitment” with McElhenney after he presented them with a four-minute test reel and 20-minute pitch for the film. Figment centers on “an imaginative boy and his family who are thrown for a loop when their greatest fears come to life.” The reel McElhenney presented to Legendary reportedly “has thematic aspirations to be comparable to a Goonies or E.T.” Figment follows last month’s news that McElhenney and his Always Sunny costars sold a comedy pilot to FX starring standup Bill Burr.
