With February 22 just around the corner, this year’s host, Neil Patrick Harris, probably doesn’t need any advice — seeing as he already has quite a few awards-hosting gigs on his résumé. Whatever he decides to do, however, it probably should not be anything Anne Hathaway did when she hosted. (Remember that debacle?) It’s not mean to say this if she agrees with it. She told The New York Times Magazine as much:
The Oscars are coming up. Do you have any advice for Neil Patrick Harris about hosting?
Do the opposite of what I did, and you’ll be fine.
What do you think went wrong?
I think it’s so obvious that it doesn’t even need to be identified. He’ll be great. He’s a natural host.
It helps that the best advice is no advice.
