At this morning’s Oscar nominations, Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs infamously called Mr. Turner cinematographer Dick Pope “Dick Poop.” Now, making the media rounds for his well-deserved nomination, Pope brushes off his brief moment of viral fame. “I’ve been called a lot worse,” Pope told USA Today, adding that he “felt sorry for the lady who made the mispronunciation.” Upon being informed by the L.A. Times that his mangled name had become a trending Twitter topic, Pope had some harsh words for the internet’s general way of life: “If that’s what people talk to each about on [Twitter], I would never be on it. Not if it’s that level of intelligent conversation.” Dick Pope: Proud member of Team #NeverTweet.
