NatGeo Orders Docu-Comedy ‘History of the World’ from ‘Silicon Valley’ Creators

The National Geographic Channel is giving comedy a try. Variety reports that the network has added a new show from Silicon Valley creators and former King of the Hill showrunners John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky called History of the World, which will “use sketch comedy, animation, puppetry, documentary and archival footage to explore weighty questions such as how the world came about, the evolution of man and the origins of spirituality, money, leisure time, sports, hygiene and entertainment.” On the news, NatGeo exec Tim Pastore called the show “definitely outside of the box historically for National Geographic” then added: “Why not get a history lesson from the guys who wrote Blades of Glory?” The series will premiere on the network this fall.
