If you liked Melancholia but thought it could have used a few more laughs, NBC has the show for you. The network today announced that it has green-lit Apocalypse, a cataclysmic-comet dramedy starring Megan Mullally, Jenna Fischer, and Rob Lowe. (That last addition means the world is literally going to end.) The trio will play some combination of “a foul-mouthed priest, an unhinged white supremacist, a mild-mannered bank manager, a germ-phobic cyber-terrorist, a five-star general and a child who (possibly) rose from the dead.” As the project is a co-production with Sky TV, other roles will be filled by Brits like Mathew Baynton, Paterson Joseph, and Joel Fry. The show will air for ten episodes; depending on what happens with the comet, a second season seems unlikely.
