Fox Orders Comedy Pilot ‘The Grinder’ Starring Rob Lowe

Rob Lowe has a new starring TV role lined up. Variety reports that Fox has given a pilot order to a single-cam comedy called The Grinder, which centers on Lowe as a TV lawyer named Dean Anderson who reaches “a crossroads in life after his long-running hit show comes to an end. He decides to move back to his small hometown, under the impression that his experience as a television personality has prepped him to take over his family’s law firm.” Former Allen Gregory writers Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel will write, New Girl’s Jake Kasdan will direct, and all three will co-executive produce with Lowe and Nick Stoller. Lowe also stars in an upcoming British comedy Apocalypse Slough, which is set to air in the US on NBC later this year.
