Last summer, Oxygen ordered a new docu-series about women in comedy called Funny Girls, and the network released the first trailer this week ahead of its April 7 debut. Funny Girls follows six women comics in Los Angeles (Scout Durwood, Calise Hawkins, Yamaneika Saunders, Nicole Aimee Schreiber, Stephanie Simbari, and Ester Steinberg) as they try to break out in the world of comedy and features cameos from Margaret Cho, Bill Burr, Janeane Garofalo, Horatio Sanz, and Loni Love. Judging from the trailer, it looks like Funny Girls will be a weird mix between a documentary-style look at standup and a drama-filled MTV-style scripted reality show.
