The Razzies, the annual awards for the worst of film, found a fitting target for their derision Saturday night. The committee bestowed Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas with four dubious honors, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Screen Combo for Kirk Cameron and his ego. Meanwhile, Cameron Diaz finally scored her first win (after six nominations) for Worst Actress for The Other Woman and Sex Tape. Ben Affleck won the “Redeemer” award for his work with Argo and Gone Girl. The Saving Christmas sweep (which has zero percent on Rotten Tomatoes) can be seen as much as a condemnation for bad filmmaking as it is for homophobia. Cameron, a noted conservative and homophobe, has previously called homosexuality “unnatural” and gay marriage “detrimental” to society.
