Initial ratings for last night’s big SNL special are in, and they’re impressive. Variety reports that the first three hours of the special averaged 23.1 million viewers, easily beating out everything else on television last night and almost matching the Grammys’ average last weekend of 24.8 million viewers. Ratings from the final half hour haven’t been announced yet, but the special’s 7.8 rating makes it the biggest audience for an NBC primetime entertainment telecast since the Will & Grace finale in May 2006.
