Paul Reubens just revealed some interesting details about the upcoming Pee-wee Herman film Pee-wee’s Big Holiday. In a blog post, Reubens announced that the Judd Apatow-produced film begins production next month and will debut on Netflix, and Wonder Showzen/The Heart, She Holler’s John Lee is set to make his feature directorial debut with the film. “Judd and I dreamt up this movie four years ago,” Reubens said on the news. “The world was much different back then— Netflix was waiting by the mailbox for red envelopes to arrive. I’ve changed all that. The future is here. Get used to it. Bowtie is the new black.” Full plot details are being kept under wraps, but the film will follow a “fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger” that “inspires Pee-wee to take his very first holiday in this epic story of friendship and destiny.” Reubens co-wrote the film with Comedy Bang!
