Dan Aykroyd and Judy Belushi Launch Blues Brothers Records

In addition to promoting Crystal Head Vodka and seeking out new Ghostbusters “branding opportunities,” SNL alum Dan Aykroyd has a new business venture in the works. THR reports that Aykroyd has teamed up with John Belushi’s widow Judy to launch a new record label called Blues Brothers Records with a mission to “find the next generation of blues performers.” Jazz label Blue Note Records will act as distributor, and the label will also partner up the House of Blues – which Aykroyd co-founded in 1992 – for promotional events and performances.

“The recorded music industry today presents huge challenges but also great opportunities,” Aykroyd said in a statement. “Judy and I are excited to partner with the master ear for talent Don Was and Blue Note Records in fulfilling the true ‘Mission From God’—to find, develop and nurture emerging blues performers. After all that’s where American music began in the first place and now it is in the hands of the next generation.” Aykroyd and Belushi are currently accepting talent submissions via the Blues Brothers website.
