Jerrod Carmichael’s NBC Comedy Gets a Six-Episode Order

Not long after ordering a multi-cam comedy pilot from Jerrod Carmichael, NBC has decided to give the project a series order. Variety reports that the untitled comedy has landed a six-episode order at NBC, and Carmichael will star as himself and executive produce with Neighbors’ Nick Stoller, who co-wrote the pilot episode with Carmichael. The show is inspired by Carmichael’s “real-life relationships with his say-anything, contrarian father, his therapist-in training girlfriend, his hustling brother and his mother who is always right with Jesus.” David Alan Grier will play Jerrod’s father Joe, Loretta Devine will play his mother Cynthia, Amber Stevens West will play his girlfriend Maxine, and Friends of the People’s Lil Rel Howery will play his brother Bobby.
