A sequel to Kevin Smith’s 1995 film Mallrats is in the works. Smith confirmed the news during a radio show over the weekend and said that the sequel is “half a script right now” and will start shooting around May 2016. “Lately I’ve been doing this thing where I’m like, ‘Do you want to do what’s good for your career, or do you just want to have fun?’” he said. “Nobody’s clamoring for a Mallrats sequel, but I would love to make one. It’s been like 20 years.” Mallrats 2 isn’t the only sequel Smith is currently working on – he confirmed last week on Twitter that Clerks III starts shooting this May followed by another comedy called Hit Somebody and horror Moose Jaws early next year.
