During their hour-long “Legends of Letterman” set on The Late Show (recorded Thursday, aired Friday), Dave Matthews Band debuted a new song called “Black and Bluebird.” The band made its television debut on Late Show 20 years ago, with Thursday marking their 13th, and final, appearance. That Dave Matthews performed just several days after Will Ferrell revived Harry Caray, and just one day after Tina Fey took off her #LastDressEver, shows the breadth and variety of Letterman’s appeal. Now, if only Ferrell would do an impersonation of Dave Matthews, all would be right in the world.
