Paul Feig Explains How He Got the All-Female Ghostbusters Film

Turns out Paul Feig had been approached several times about doing a Ghostbusters sequel, but he kept turning it down because, as he says, he couldn’t figure out how to do it in a way that excited him. In a video interview with AlloCine, Feig explained how, despite that hiccup, he ended up as the helmer of the franchise’s all-female reboot. “I just love working with funny women,” he says. “That’s really all I like to do in my career.” He also talks about the misogynistic reactions to his film that have been floating around, as well as the ever-lasting humor (and sanctity) of the original films. His Ghostbusters will start shooting later this year, and roll out July 2016. Get ready to call you-know-who; it’ll be fun.
