While promoting his new album in an interview with the New York Post, Snoop Dogg jumped into an English accent and opened up about his love for Game of Thrones. The rapper’s latest album Bush, out Tuesday, was only briefly the topic of conversation because a question about GOT’s season-five mixtape prompted Snoop to wax historical. “When they asked me to do the track, I was more than honored because I’m truly a fan of the show. I would have done it for free, but they gave me some money on top of it, so I was like, Fuck it, let’s do it! I watch it for historic reasons, to try to understand what this world was based on before I got here. I like to know how we got from there, to here, and the similarities between then and now,” Snoop told the Post.

Quite a few people have been wondering, since this interview has come out, whether the rapper actually thinks GOT should be taken at face value. (In Snoop’s defense, author George R.R. Martin has said A Song of Ice and Fire is very loosely inspired by the War of the Roses — though we don’t think that’s what Snoop’s referencing here.) When pressed about what parallels exist between Westeros and the real world, Snoop added: “That kings still rule and a bitch fucked everything up, in every situation!” C’mon, Snoop.
