HBO Orders David Fincher’s ’80s Music Video Comedy to Series

David Fincher is set to be HBO’s newest showrunner. According to THR, the pay network has officially ordered Fincher’s ’80s music video comedy, tentatively titled Video Synchronicity, to series. The show follows a man named Robby, “a wide-eyed guy who drops out of college and drives to Hollywood with dreams of directing a sci-fi epic. He lands a job as a production assistant for a company that makes music videos.” Red Band Society’s Charlie Rowe will star as Robby, and Sam Page, Jason Flemyng, Kerry Condon, Elizabeth Lail, Corbin Bensen, and Paz Vega reportedly will round out the cast. Fincher’s show joins a list of recently ordered HBO series including the Lorne Michaels-produced Brothers in Atlanta, Sharon Horgan’s Divorce starring Sarah Jessica Parker, and Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair’s High Maintenance.
