The premiere date is out there: Fox has just announced that its new six-episode revival of The X-Files will premiere Sunday, January 24, at 10 p.m., immediately after the network’s broadcast of the NFL championship game. The next night, Mulder and Scully will settle in for a five-week run Mondays at 8 p.m. The two-night premiere scheduling strategy is one Fox has used to great success in the past, most notably for many seasons of 24. What’s more, by airing the show in late January and February, Fox will likely be able to avoid X going against NBC’s The Voice and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, which are usually between cycles then. Plus, the network will be able to eliminate a month’s worth of reruns for Gotham, which will continue to air Mondays at eight for most of next season.
