You might’ve already heard that Jon Hamm was a total hero at Bonnaroo this year, feeding people gummy bears and leading guerrilla sing-alongs. Turns out the actor was also a hero offstage: reports that Hamm and Zach Galifianakis dropped by a Chattanooga diner Sunday afternoon, after wrapping things up at the Tennessee music fest, to catch a late brunch. The actors’ waitress Abby Swartz reportedly recognized them immediately. Although she claims to have been beyond starstruck, it sounds like she was a champ, provided top-notch service, and facilitated a great dining experience. In fact, it was so great that upon leaving, Hamm wrestled his Bonnaroo artist wristband off his hand and said: “Take this wristband and go to Bonnaroo. This will get you anywhere you need to go.” The waitress looked at the One Wristband to rule them all in disbelief. “Yeah, go to Bonnaroo and have a great time,” Hamm reassured her.

Throughout the night, I kept thinking about how lucky I was. I’m not a very outgoing person, so I didn’t talk to too many people in the artists’ hospitality area,” Swartz told afterward, noting that she was able to go backstage and watch Brandi Carlile, Florence and the Machine, and Billy Joel perform. “I mostly kept to myself. But there were times when I would just smile and think, There are thousands of people here, and I am the only one who is, basically, Jon Hamm’s stand-in. … Jon Hamm is amazing, and I would love for him to know that he made my life. Well done, Hamm. Oh, and if you’re wondering what Galifianakis did, he reportedly left Swartz a 250 percent tip. (You can read the full tale here.)
