Are you in the mood for a bit-off? Because that’s apparently what happened recently between comedians Zach Broussard and Rich Vos on a recent episode of the Legion of Skanks podcast, which started when Vos discovered Broussard’s joke list “Top 1000 Comedians of 2014.” Alongside podcast hosts Big Jay Oakerson, Luis J. Gomez, and Dave Smith and guest Ari Shaffir, Vos took issue with not being included on the list and even called up Broussard directly to get an explanation, only to have Broussard tell him “Rich, unfortunately I’ve never heard of you, man.” The phone call back-and-forth between Vos and Broussard is hilarious and well worth the watch; check it out below:
Here’s what Broussard told us about getting the phone call from Vos:
I totally got ambushed by the call. I immediately heard a bunch of dudes laughing, so pretty quickly knew I was on a podcast of some sort. Rich just sort of went into listing his credits, so I couldn’t think of a better way to respond than pretending to have never heard of him. There’s something really fun about telling a super hardworking club comic that he didn’t make a list of the top 1000 comedians. It really says so much about how insane lists make comedians. I’d also like to point out that my list is just real as any other list out there and I probably took way more time creating it.
We asked Vos whether or not he knew Broussard’s list was a joke, and here’s what he told us:
I knew it was a joke. Of course it was a joke. Top 1000? I guess I out “ironicked” him when I called him about it. That was a bit. If people don’t get that I really don’t care about making a list then they don’t know what it is to be a professional comedian for 30 years. Also, it should be pointed out that even on an ironic list, I should be on it. Near the top.
It’s hard to say who won this round, but maybe Broussard will at least consider Vos for his 2015 list.
